Marine Biologist Nicole

Currently in my marine biology class, I am working on a website where I take pictures of a beach in Dana Point each month and record the changes it has made throughout the year. I am only four months into the assignment, but I have taken some amazing photos I would love to share with you all.

Below I will post the link to my website. Feel free to leave comments and be sure to check on it each month to see updated pictures!

New York Reminiscing

Over the summer I took my very first trip to New York to look at colleges, and like all 17 year old girls, I fell in love with the city. Today I was going through some old photos and found lots from my trip that I never posted and thought that I would share them with you all.

On my trip, I lived in the heart of the Garment District in a two bedroom loft on the 23rd floor of a gorgeous building named Emerald Green. For the whole week, my cousin Maddie and I lived like natives, but acted like tourists getting lost in the subway everywhere we went, downloading yelp on both of our phones, and asking hundreds of people for directions. Nonetheless, we had the time of our lives and I wouldn't have traded it for anything in the world. My favorite part of the city that I visited was the Meatpacking District. It was such a charming place with cobblestone streets with little boutiques and restraunts lining them. A couple of places to definitely visit while you are in the district are, Bubby's; an amazing restaurant with great food and also a good place to see celebrities, STK; a super chic rooftop bar, Gansevoort Market; an eclectic market with every type of food that you can think of, and finally the Highline; a beautiful nature walk along the water on an abandoned above-ground subway refurbished with plants and modern art. The Highline is my personal favorite activity we did on the trip and I definitely would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. It is a perfect place to get some exercise, see the city and some art, take pictures, and of course leads you straight into the heart of my favorite place, the Meatpacking District.

Overall, I had the time of my life in the city and cannot wait until I can visit again. Hopefully then I will be a college girl moving into her dorm room :)

Trip to Balboa

Last weekend I took a quick trip to Balboa Island in Newport with my best friend Grace and boyfriend Daniel. It was very unplanned for and we didn't quite know what we were going to do once we got there, but had an awesome time once we did. Balboa is such an amazing place and there are always exciting things to do there all year round. Next time we go I will definitely go paddle boarding or rent a bike to ride around on to explore the island more.

The town is so charming. At night, there are lots of lights and people walking around, also there is a little carnival near the ferry stop called the "Fun Zone" which has a ferris wheel and some cute games for kids. Here are some photos of my adventure on the island on the ferry, at dinner, and walking along the boardwalk.

San Clemente

Happy Saturday! The weekend is finally here and I have never been more relieved to finish another week of school. In my excitement for summer, here are some photos of last weekends adventure in San Clemente with my good friend Grace.

She lives right on the beach and we spent the whole day pretty much in her front yard. We spent hours watching a surf competition right next to us, swimming in her pool, and drinking tea from Lavander Lounge. It was a perfect sunny day and reminded me so much of summer. I can't believe its so close!!

Enjoy you weekend!

Wild for Wildfox

Good morning! In celebration for my first official and totally real post on my blog I thought I would share a shoot I did a few months ago with my good friend Sam Klegerman for Wildfox.

Below are a few of my favorite photos of my friend Nicolette and I from the shoot. Enjoy :)

I love Wildfox so much and am obsessed with their fun and relaxed style. They always have such unique graphics and patterns and are perfect to wear for day to day life in Southern California. I loved my rose sweater so much, it is lightweight and perfect for adventures near the beach.

Oh, hey

Hey everyone! Im back and finally ready to start blogging again :) I am terribly sorry that I gave you guys one post and then left for a couple months, but I have come back and will say that my leave of absence won't happen again anytime soon.

Since the creation of this blog I have done quite a lot of thinking. When I started xoxoNicoleStJohn I desperately wanted to create my own personal style blog where I could share my unique style with the world, but after I posted my first post I quickly realized many reasons why I could not fulfill my dream at this very moment. First of all, I am a high school student in the midst of the most important academic year of her life. While I would love to become an amazing fashion blogger with thousands of followers, I was hit with the reality that my goal takes an enormous amount of time that I currently do not have. Another big issue is the fact that even though I can put together cute and unique outfits to share with my followers, unfortunately I do not have my own personal photographer following me around like I'm a professional, such as Happily Grey, Sincerely Jules, or Native Fox. (although that would be an absolute dream)

Moving forward, now that I have finally come to terms with the fact that my dream of creating a personal style blog will not come true anytime soon, I did realize that there are many other aspects in my life that are just as wonderfully interesting and important as fashion is to me. With this I have decided to create more of a lifestyle blog, focusing on my daily, average teenage-girl life in Orange County instead of daily outfits.

Some of my upcoming post ideas include spring/ summer fashion trends, my favorite healthy foods (and how to make them), recent purchases from my latest adventures to the mall, and lots and lots of pretty pictures of Laguna Beach (also maybe a few of my cat haha). Although, with that said, I am NOT giving up on my dreams of a style blog and will be posting ootd's any chance I can get!
