New York Reminiscing

Over the summer I took my very first trip to New York to look at colleges, and like all 17 year old girls, I fell in love with the city. Today I was going through some old photos and found lots from my trip that I never posted and thought that I would share them with you all.

On my trip, I lived in the heart of the Garment District in a two bedroom loft on the 23rd floor of a gorgeous building named Emerald Green. For the whole week, my cousin Maddie and I lived like natives, but acted like tourists getting lost in the subway everywhere we went, downloading yelp on both of our phones, and asking hundreds of people for directions. Nonetheless, we had the time of our lives and I wouldn't have traded it for anything in the world. My favorite part of the city that I visited was the Meatpacking District. It was such a charming place with cobblestone streets with little boutiques and restraunts lining them. A couple of places to definitely visit while you are in the district are, Bubby's; an amazing restaurant with great food and also a good place to see celebrities, STK; a super chic rooftop bar, Gansevoort Market; an eclectic market with every type of food that you can think of, and finally the Highline; a beautiful nature walk along the water on an abandoned above-ground subway refurbished with plants and modern art. The Highline is my personal favorite activity we did on the trip and I definitely would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. It is a perfect place to get some exercise, see the city and some art, take pictures, and of course leads you straight into the heart of my favorite place, the Meatpacking District.

Overall, I had the time of my life in the city and cannot wait until I can visit again. Hopefully then I will be a college girl moving into her dorm room :)

Trip to Balboa

Last weekend I took a quick trip to Balboa Island in Newport with my best friend Grace and boyfriend Daniel. It was very unplanned for and we didn't quite know what we were going to do once we got there, but had an awesome time once we did. Balboa is such an amazing place and there are always exciting things to do there all year round. Next time we go I will definitely go paddle boarding or rent a bike to ride around on to explore the island more.

The town is so charming. At night, there are lots of lights and people walking around, also there is a little carnival near the ferry stop called the "Fun Zone" which has a ferris wheel and some cute games for kids. Here are some photos of my adventure on the island on the ferry, at dinner, and walking along the boardwalk.
